Dear Chaparral Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of the staff, I would like to welcome you to Chaparral Middle School. Chaparral Middle School is a high-powered school that prides itself on putting a focus on each individual student every day. Our goal is to provide a strong overall experience for our students that includes a variety of academic offerings catering to multiple learning styles. In addition, we offer a powerful student activities program through our Leadership and ASB, complemented by numerous student clubs, as well as strong technology, arts, and athletics programs.
Chaparral has a long tradition of overall
excellence. Most recently, Chaparral Middle School was named a 2017 California and United States "School to Watch" by the National Forum, and was named an Honor Roll School for 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 by the CBEE (California Business for Education Excellence.) This on the heels of last year's recognition by NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), as a National
Music Support School. Chaparral also received this recognition in 2015, along
with a California Department of Education Gold Ribbon School Award, as well as a 2015 California Department of Education Exemplary Arts School designation. These accomplishments go nicely with Chaparral's multiple designations as a California Department of Education Distinguished School, our two California School Board Association Golden Bell Awards, and of course, our US Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools Award. Each year, we are ranked
by multiple sources as one of the top middle schools in the State of
California, and indeed, in the entire United States of America.
Chaparral students are promoted to Diamond Bar High School ready to take
on the many challenges that face them. They can do this due to the work ethic
learned while at Chaparral. Our accomplishments are evident in many separate
areas; in our numerous arts accolades, our award winning academic programs,
through athletic championships, and most recently in our latest CAASPP
achievements in which over 74 percent of Chaparral students were considered at
or beyond grade level expectations in all content areas, highest of all WVUSD middle schools! Our success is a
testament to the hard work of the students, staff and community.
As 2019-20 begins, Chaparral is proud to again open our
doors following a multi-million-dollar renovation to our campus that now gives
us a facility to match the instruction happening in our classrooms…21st
century and state of the art. I invite you to learn more about our 21st
Century Classroom Initiative by following this link.
Despite our successes, we realize that there is still work to
be done. As a learning community, we will strive to improve. Please join the
staff at Chaparral Middle School as we focus on continued improvement by
challenging yourself to look for areas of personal growth and pushing forward
along with us. I feel certain that you will like the results!
