Principal's Letter
To Our Chaparral Family,
I am honored and privileged to be a part of the family at Chaparral Middle School. At Chaparral, the tradition married with innovation keeps us appreciating the accomplishments of the past while forging ahead into a promising future.
The longstanding tradition of excellence at Chaparral Middle School dates back to the school’s opening and continues through today. Most recently, Chaparral was, again, designated as California and United States Schools to Watch by the National Forum. Our school community is proud of this award as it recognizes the efforts of our students, staff, and community in continuing to make Chaparral a special place.
This recognition joins our other awards and recognitions in recent years: Honor Roll School by the CBEE, National Music Support School (Best Communities for Music Education) by NAMM, Gold Ribbon School Award, Distinguished School, and Exemplary Arts School by the CA CDE, 2 Golden Bell Awards by the CSBA, and a Blue Ribbon Award by the US Department of Education.
This local and national recognition is no accident. To be a world-class school, we need a world-class team; the dedication and commitment that our faculty and staff make to every one of our students is world-class. And while our school-wide focus is not to win awards, we know that the recognition is simply a reflection of our commitment to you. As our staff works tirelessly to prepare our students to be the best versions of themselves and to be prepared for Diamond Bar High School, I have no doubt that we will continue to be recognized for the important work that we do: supporting and teaching students to be the best they can be.
Students and families, it is so very important that you take advantage of all that Chaparral has to offer. Be kind to others. Do well in the classroom. Build positive habits beyond that which is simply academic: play sports, join clubs, be a leader, make music, dazzle the stage as a thespian. With Chaparral’s commitment to excellence in academics, arts, athletics, and activities, be involved and continue to make this school one of the best around!
Our students have proven over these last few years how resilient and capable they are to overcome the numerous transitions and shifts in our world. The last two years have not been easy, but I have seen countless students, families, and staff rise to the occasion. This gives me hope. I am hopeful and excited for our future – one led by Chaparral students.
I am committed to supporting each of our students as they navigate their middle school years. Please join me daily in surrounding our students as the Chaparral family, ferociously cheering all of their successes and supporting them in their moments of learning.
With all my support,
Robby Jung, Ed. D.
