Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am excited to be your 8th-grade counselor and look forward to partnering with you and your family throughout this important year.

I am proud to have been part of the Walnut Valley Unified School District since 1999. This year marks my 12th year at Chaparral Middle School and my 32nd year in education. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving students as a teacher, Elementary Learning Specialist (ELS), Title I Coordinator, Intervention Teacher, Elementary School Counselor, and now as the Student Support and Resource Advisor (SSRA) at Chaparral.

The 8th-grade year is filled with growth, new opportunities, and preparation for high school. My goal is to support every student academically, socially, emotionally, and as they begin exploring future college and career pathways. Whether a student needs someone to talk to, help navigating a challenge, or guidance in reaching their goals, I am here to help.

Google Classroom

I encourage every 8th-grade student to join our 8th Grade Counseling Google Classroom. This is one of the best ways for me to share important announcements, resources, deadlines, and opportunities throughout the school year.

If your child has not yet joined, please have them email me, and I will gladly provide the Google Classroom code.

I believe that strong partnerships between home and school help students thrive. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's academic progress, personal or social development, or anything related to Chaparral Middle School, please don't hesitate to reach out.

If you would like to request a schedule change, please use the 8th Grade Schedule Change Request Form.

Please note that the following requests cannot be accommodated:

1. Requests for a higher math placement. (Students will take a math assessment within the first two weeks of school. Placement changes will be made based on assessment results.)
2. Requests for a specific teacher.
3. Requests to be placed in the same class as another student.

While I will do my very best to accommodate schedule change requests, changes are based on space and availability, and there is no guarantee that a request can be granted. Please allow more than two weeks for processing if changes are possible. For elective courses, I cannot guarantee placement into a student's first-choice class.

The deadline to submit a schedule change request is Friday, August 21, 2026.
